Remarks

This method must be called at startup of every Carmenta Engine Android application, even before Runtime::initialize is called.

The method takes cares of a few things that require access to the Activity:

• It picks up the physical screen resolution and passes this to the kernel.

• It finds out some application-specific directories on the Android device and passes them to the kernel.

• It checks if an asset folder named carmenta.engine is present in the APK. If the folder exists and this is the first time the APK is installed, it unpacks all files in this folder and copies them to a folder on the Android device, under the directory returned by Activity.getFilesDir(). Typically this can be used to include the Carmenta Engine data folder in the APK, but the application may also add its own data files. When a new version of the APK is installed, it will check if the installed asset files also exist in the new APK. Files that do not exist will be removed. The files that do exist will be checked for changes and will be overwritten if they have changed.
