Remarks
One revolution is 400 gon.
This angle unit was invented as a part of the metric system (the original French name was grade). One gon of latitude along a meridian is approximately 100 000 meters.
The name grad or grade may be more common in English texts, but gon is now the international standard symbol according to ISO 31-1 Annex B (since many languages use the word grad for the ordinary degree).
